An essential ingredient in Mediterranean dishes, bay leaves add a sharp, warm flavor to soups, sauces and marinades. They release their flavor slowly, so add them early in the cooking process. And be sure to remove them before serving.

We source our Spice Islands® bay leaves from California, known for strong bay leaves with a more concentrated aroma and potent flavor. They’re so potent, in fact, that we recommend using 1/3 of a leaf in recipes that call for a whole leaf.
